Agnes Armstrong has gained international recognition as an authority on 19th-century organists and organ music. Her extensive research and writings on the life and works of Alexandre Guilmant have resulted in a busy schedule of concerts and lectures throughout the United States and in Europe. She is also the editor of the organ works of Ernest Chausson, published by Forberg in Bonn. Since 1991, a teaching fellow in the Ph.D. program for musicology at New York University, she maintains the dual positions of organist and choir director at two churches in upstate New York. She has served on numerous faculties and committees for professional organizations, and in 1995 was elected President of the International Reed Organ Society.

Agnes Armstrong est titulaire et chef de chœur de deux églises, à Altamont et à Guilderland, dans l’etat de New-York. Elle donne de nombreux concerts et conférences en Amérique et en Europe. Enseignante et chercheur depuis 1991 à l’Université de New-York, où elle poursuit son doctorat de musicologie, elle est l’auteur d’articles et d’ouvrages sur Alexandre Guilmant et la musique d’orgue au XIXe siècle. Elle a rédigé une édition de l’œuvre pour orgue d’Ernest Chausson, publiée chez Forberg à Bonn. Depuis 1995 elle est la Présidente de l’association internationale “Reed Organ Society” qui s’est donnée pour mission la sauvegarde de l’harmonium.

Sie war seit 1991 als Assistent an der New York University tätig und hält zugleich eine Doppelposition als Organistin und Chordirectorin zweier Kirchen im Staate New Yorks inne.
